a fish on a hook There's a simple problem that is stopping many websites visitors from even considering staying around for more than just a few seconds to see what you have to offer... but the good news is it can be easily fixed and i'll show you how. First, a question. How does your website grab your potential customer's attention right from when they open your homepage ? Be realistic. If you don't know or there is any doubt about how you do, you need to fix it. One of the best ways to do that is by putting a question on your webpage. It can't just be any old question of course. It has to pique their interest. Put it as early as possible in your page, preferably the first thing your potential customer will see. Dont leave it to chance. You have only got a few seconds to grab their attention before they make the decision to stay or go to another website. If you dont do that you risk losing them and their business forever. So what question are you going to ask them? Well, it needs to be specifically about what is important to them. Simply find out what their number one priority is and construct a question around it. If they need to solve a particular problem they have, find out what it is and address that in your question. If it's price, then construct it around that. If it's your unique customer care, again, construct it around that. If it's saving time, construct it around that. You get the idea. If you dont know what your potential customer's number one priority is, ask them! Most people will be only too glad to help if you tell them that you are trying to improve your service/product to them and perhap give them a token gesture in return. Often, just a heartfelt thank you will be warmly welcomed. To make your question even more powerful always try to include a timescale and be specific about what you are offering them. Oh and it must always be believeable, otherwise it won't work at all. Some examples: Want to lose 5lb in 5 weeks and be healthier than you've ever been? Want to increase the value of your property by a whopping 10% in 6 months? Need to cut your electricity bill by a staggering 50% right now? Want to shave an extra minute off your running times every week for 4 weeks- guaranteed? A good compelling question will probably take you a while to do. These are just questions that I have put together in a few minutes but i hope they show you the idea. Be as specific as possible and do look around in advertising and magazines etc. to see how it's done and get some ideas. Ultimately, you want the question that will reel them in like a fish on a hook and beg them to stay at your website and take an interest in at least finding out about your products and services... and hopefully with a little work... buying them! Good luck as always! |
