You might think youve seen every type of phone imaginable, but there is a newcomer on the scene that you probably haven't seen yet and its available right now - the Internet telephone (or Voice Over IP (VOIP) as the technology is known.)

Using your computer, a mic, speakers and your Internet connection, you can make phone calls across the world for a fraction of the cost you currently pay your telephone company. Some examples: UK to USA or UK to UK = 1.7 Euros, 2 USCents or 1.1 UKPence (approximately.)
If you have a laptop computer or PDA you can also make calls on the move, anywhere you have an internet connection, like offices, homes, hotels, airports, coffee shops, trains (yes really!), train stations, etc. Using your downloaded software you can just dial a telephone number using your mouse and your computer does the rest.
Now the costs are so cheap, even internationally, the world is going to become an even smaller, more connected, place. The savings you or your company can make are high. I know of people that are cutting their usual phone bill by 90%!
There's been a lot of talk about this technology over the last few years being 'the next big thing' and it might just be, we'll have to wait and see. Im using it myself on trial (Im using what seems to be the most commonly used one called Skype (www.skype.com) and there are others too) and my experiences have been positive and very cheap!
